NFL CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIP PICKS

The two favorites in the NFC, the Packers and the Saints, both were upset in the Divisional round of the playoffs. The Packers were out of sink offensively after the bye week and FOUR TURNOVERS killed them as well. They were beaten by the Giants 37 to 20. The Saints had five turnovers and fell to the 49ers 36 to 32.

The ArmChair Coach went 2 and 2 in football picks last week. My record for the season is 154 and 56 for a percentage of .733. Let's look at this week's picks of the NFL Conference Championship Games.

NFC CHAMPIONSHIP GAME

NY Giants @ San Francisco..... The Giants are playing like the Packers did last year, peaking at the right time of the season, PLAYOFF TIME. I look for them to go into San Francisco and get a win over the upstart 49ers..... NY Giants 23 San Francisco 14

AFC CHAMPIONSHIP GAME

Baltimore @ New England..... It would not surprise me if the Ravens won this game. However, I think Tom Brady will put a drive together late to get the win..... New England 24 Baltimore 21

The next edition of The ArmChair Coach will be on Friday February 3rd which will be the Super Bowl Preview.

Until Next Time.

WEEK 21 FOOTBALL PICKS (2011)

The highlights from last week are, we have a new National Champion in College Football and it is Alabama. The Tide ROLLED over Number 1 LSU 21 to 0 in one of the most dominant defensive performances you will ever see. In the NFL Playoffs, the Pittsburgh Steelers got Tebowed 29 to 23 in overtime. We will have a new AFC Champion this season with the Steelers eliminated.

The ArmChair Coach went 3 and 3 in football picks last week. My record for the season is 152 and 54 for a percentage of .738. Let's look at this week's games.

NFL PLAYOFFS

Denver @ New England..... This is a rematch of a game played in Denver a few weeks back. The Patriots forced some turnovers and defeated the Broncos to start the three game slide that Denver ended the season with. I would love to see Tebow and the Broncos win this game but, I don't see it happening..... New England 24 Denver 17

Houston @ Baltimore..... The Texans got their first ever playoff win last week versus the Bengals. They will have to wait to get playoff win number 2..... Baltimore 23 Houston 10

New Orleans @ San Francisco..... The Saints are rolling and look like a well oiled machine. The 49ers are a surprising number 2 seed in the NFC. I see the Saints rolling through the bay area and coming out with a win..... New Orleans 27 San Francisco 20

NY Giants @ Green Bay..... The Packers are the defending Champs and rolled through the season 15 and 1 but, the Giants seem to be peaking at just the right time. It should be a good one and I see the Packers winning late..... Green Bay 28 NY Giants 20

Until Next Time.

WEEK 20 FOOTBALL PICKS (2011)

The football season continues to slip away. Most of the bowl games are over and we are starting the NFL playoffs this week. It has been a season of excitement, disappointment and frustration at times but, these are three of the reasons that make it fun.

The ArmChair Coach went 7 and 3 in football picks last week. My record for the season is 149 and 51 for a percentage of .745. Let's look at this weeks picks.

COLLEGE BOWL GAMES

Cotton Bowl..... Kansas State vs Arkansas..... This looks like a pretty good match-up. The Big 12 vs the SEC. I see it as a 4th quarter game with the hogs pulling it out..... Arkansas 30 Kansas State 24

BCS National Championship Game..... LSU vs Alabama..... The Tigers shouldn't have to play Alabama again. They have already beaten them in Tuscaloosa. The Crimson Tide didn't even win their division or their conference. They probably are the two best teams but, IT AIN'T FAIR FOR LSU TO HAVE TO BEAT THEM AGAIN!! I think it will cost them..... Alabama 17 LSU 14

NFL PLAYOFFS

Cincinnati @ Houston..... This is the first playoff game for the Texans and the place will be rocking. They are beat up and I believe it will cost them..... Cincinnati 20 Houston 17

Detroit @ New Orleans..... This is the Lions first playoff game in several years. The Saints are rolling along as one of the hottest teams in the NFL. It should be a shootout..... New Orleans 38 Detroit 30

Atlanta @ NY Giants..... This time last year the Falcons had a 1st round bye and home field throughout. They wound up losing to the Packers and the bad taste is still there. A win over the Giants will help..... Atlanta 24 NY Giants 17

Pittsburgh @ Denver..... This is probably the most interesting game of the wild card weekend. Tim Tebow's first playoff start and can he lead the Broncos past the favored but, beat up Steelers? It should be close but, I see the Steelers getting the win..... Pittsburgh 17 Denver 10

Until Next Time.
