WEEKEND SPORTS REVIEW ( 7th Edition )

CAVALIERS DERAIL THE BULLDOGS!

THE HIGH SCHOOL GAME OF THE WEEK had the Dorman Cavaliers defense forcing six Boiling Springs turnovers, and the Bulldogs defense could not stop Dorman's Charone Peake as the Dorman Cavaliers defeated the Boiling Springs Bulldogs 39 to 15. The Dorman defense also had two safeties in the game. Dorman WR Charone Peake had 6 receptions for 141 yards and two receiving TDs. Peake also had a 38 yard TD run on the first play of the 4th quarter. Boiling Springs, off to their best start in school history, failed their first big test on the big stage this season. The Bulldogs go home to face another surprise team the Mauldin Mavericks on Friday. Dorman goes to Duncan to face Byrnes.

THE COLLEGE GAME OF THE WEEK had the Clemson Tigers demolishing the Wake Forest Demon Deacons 38 to 3. Most people, especially Clemson fans want to know WHERE HAS THIS TEAM BEEN THAT PLAYED WAKE ON SATURDAY? The Tigers came out focused, physical and executed on offense for 4 quarters on Saturday against the Deacons. If the Tigers play with the kind of attitude and intensity that they played with on Saturday, they will be a serious factor in the ACC Atlantic Division race. The Tiger defense sacked Wake QB Riley Skinner 5 times and he was under intense pressure all game long. Skinner was held to 11 for 24 passing for 82 yards and 2 interceptions. CJ Spiller had 109 yards rushing on 9 carries and 2 TDs. One of Spiller's TDs was a 66 yard run. Kyle Parker was 10 for 17 passing for 132 yards and 1 TD. Parker also had 31 yards rushing on 7 carries and a 3 yard TD run. The Tigers will need this same kind of effort on Saturday as they travel to play 8th ranked Miami.

DID YOU KNOW? With his 66 yard TD run against Wake Forest, C.J. Spiller became the first ACC player to surpass 6,000 all-purpose yards for a career.

THE NFL GAME OF THE WEEK had the Minnesota Vikings defeating the Baltimore Ravens in a thriller 33 to 31. The Vikings almost blew the game when they let the Ravens erase a 17 point deficit with 10 minutes to play. Brett Favre hit Sidney Rice with a 58 yard completion to set up Ryan Longwell's game winning 31 yard field goal with 1:56 left in the game. The Vikings then watched as Baltimore's Steve Hauschka missed a 44 yard attempt for the win as time expired. The Vikings escaped and remain undefeated at 6 and 0. The Ravens have dropped 3 in a row after a 3 and 0 start to the season.

THE ARMCHAIR COACH went 11 and 9 in game predictions this past weekend. Total for season is 98 and 38 for a percentage of .721.

MAJOR LEAGUE BASEBALL PLAYOFFS over the weekend has the NY Yankees leading the ALCS 2 games to 0 over the LA Angels. The NLCS has the Philadelphia Phillies leading the LA Dodgers 2 games to 1 after the 11 to 0 thrashing they gave the Dodgers on Sunday. Game 4 of the series is tonight in Philadelphia.
